KNIGHT BLOOMS is a small home-basedflower boutique run out of Lou’s beautifully designed – ‘She Shed’ (coming in early 2020). Based in Black Rock village opposite the beautiful Half Moon Bay. Owned and operated by florist Lou Knight – previous director of Select Flowers – a five store retail group of florists.
Lou specialises in personal service and attention to detail. Her home-based business allows time to work with clients to achieve the best results. Lou says, “the corporate nature of our mall-based business, Select Flowers didn’t allow time for the kind of direct contact I want to give my clients, which I think gives superior results for my customers”.
Lou’s work is natural, romantic with a hint of boho. She combines the unusual with more common flowers and focuses on textural variance. Often incorporating flowers and herbs from her own garden.
Lou’s gets her love of flowers from her mother Kay, whose garden in their Mt Eliza home was a beauty to behold. Of course, there are many beautiful gardens on the big blocks in Mt Eliza and Lou fondly remembers‘borrowing’ flowers from many of these gardens to take home to her ‘room in the attic’. Her mother and future mother in law Marlene had two florists on the Mornington Peninsula that introduced Lou to retail floristry at an early age.
Marlene a florist from 15 years old taught Lou her art. Lou sometimes call on ‘Marls’ support and help on large projects. Lou also uses local event florist Carolle Roberts to help plan and execute many projects.
